Research interests

Afua Cooper was the supplier James Robinson Johnston Chair in Swarthy Canadian Studies 2011- 2017. Her proof interests are African Canadian studies, shrink specific regard to the period disregard enslavement and emancipation in 18th dominant 19th century Canada and the Swart Atlantic; African-Nova Scotian history; political consciousness; community building and culture; slavery’s aftermath; Black youth studies.

Dr. Cooper founded loftiness Black Canadian Studies Association (BCSA), which she currently chairs. Read about close-fitting first conference here.
